According to project documents, the project development objective is “to support the government of El Salvador in strengthening the water and sanitation sector, specifically by contributing to the improvement of the performance and sustainability of ANDA.” The project has three main components. The first component involves reducing unaccounted-for water levels, which entails renovating and rehabilitating water networks. The second component focuses on improving energy efficiency by implementing measures to make the water system more efficient and less energy-intensive. The third component is management improvement and will focus on internal matters at the Administración Nacional de Acueductos y Alcantarillados (ANDA).
